The 49th Annual Benton House Homes and Car Show Tour

IRVINGTON — The Benton House Association will host its annual Benton House Tour of Homes and Classy Car Show on Sunday, Sept. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. Celebrating its 49th year, this year’s tour includes many historic homes and landmarks, showcasing the rich and diverse history of the Irvington community.
There will be six houses and a professional building in addition to Benton House and the Bona Thompson Memorial Center:
• 51 N. Irvington Ave.
• 110 S. Downey Avenue.
• 36, avenue S. Ritter.
• 951 N. Arlington Ave.
• 5706 E. Michigan St.
• 135 S. Audubon Road.
• 5276 E. Pleasant Run Parkway N. Dr.
The Benton House Association will also feature the stylish car display on the grounds of Benton House, along with live music from Audio Diner and food from H&S Burgers for purchase.
All proceeds from the Tour & Car Show benefit the upkeep of the historic gem located at 312 South Downey Avenue.
Tickets are $15 before the visit and $20 on the day of the visit. Tickets can be purchased at any tour stop on the day of the tour. Those purchasing their ticket with a credit card on the day of the visit must do so at The Benton House. You can order tickets through Eventbrite before the visit.
The annual Benton House Home Tour is the largest fundraiser for the historic Benton House. All proceeds from the tour will go directly to the upkeep and maintenance of the house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Proceeds from past visits have gone towards permanent front yard signage, a new slate roof, gutters and downspouts, new event chairs, landscaping and foundation repairs, to name a few. name a few.
Built in 1873, the Benton House was once the residence of Butler University President Dr. Allen R. Benton.
Irvington is the city’s largest historic district, founded in 1870. The Home Tour also tops the list of major fall events in Irvington, culminating in the famous Irvington Halloween Festival. .
