RáCKEVE, &, GLASGOW, July 4, 2022 / — GOLDI Mobility Kft (GOLDI) and Hy-Hybrid Energy (Hy-Hybrid) are pleased to release the component layout of the battery operated articulated bus transmission at fuel (GOLDiON H18 ). The bus recently rolled off the coating line and has now moved into final assembly and commissioning. GOLDiON H18 is a special plug-in hybrid bus, which means that in addition to hydrogen, it also runs on electricity. The bus can be refueled at high speed from a hydrogen station like other hydrogen buses and its plug-in technology allows the battery to be recharged from an electrical outlet.

The bus is equipped with components from well-known brands, e.g. battery from CATL, fuel cell system from Horizon fuel cell technologies, electric motor from DANA, axle from ZF, steering gear from BOSCH, ABS from WABCO, air conditioner from Webasto and heating system from Valeo. The layout of the powertrain components has been finalized in light of the balances of structural, mechanical and aerodynamic forces to ensure that the bus is equipped with the highest standards of smooth and safe driving.

GOLDI launched the first of its kind in Hungary – the 18m fuel cell electric bus development program in August 2019 under the GOLDiON project. In early 2020, the program was expanded to include battery electric buses, completing both types of zero-emission electric bus fleets. GOLDI’s technical and project management partner, Hy-Hybrid Energy, supports the entire project and carried out a thorough market analysis before selecting the key components and transmission technology. The objective of the study was that all GOLDiON buses support the most advanced technology while offering long autonomy, an extended warranty and competitive prices. As a result, the GOLDiON H18 was selected to be designed as a special plug-in hybrid with battery and fuel cell drive. When ready, the GOLDiON H18 will join the family of previously manufactured battery electric buses, i.e. the 8.5m battery electric bus (GOLDiON E9) and the 12m battery electric bus (GOLDiON E12).

As part of the same project, GOLDI also installed the electric charging station in its factory to facilitate the internal charging of its vehicles. All GOLDiON bus models are designed to be fully homologated for the EU market to ensure commercial sales. Interested parties are invited to contact GOLDI Mobility for any additional request.
