DOH agrees to keep work-from-home arrangement
The Department of Health (DOH), Friday, September 16, 2022, advocated for the continuation of work from home (WFH) provisions despite the continued easing of restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic .
At a press briefing, DOH official Maria Rosario Vergeire said she was supportive of workers still under the WFH regime even as the economy seeks to continue its recovery.
“We agree with this (continuing WFH agreement) because there are many studies around the world showing that work-from-home arrangements are beneficial,” Vergeire said.
“The DOH is all for that,” she added.
Vergeire said one reason is that such a working arrangement can help prevent further transmission of the virus.
“It will prevent further transmission of Covid-19, not just COVID-19 but also other diseases,” she said.
The health official added that such arrangements help people find balance amid the pandemic.
“These work-from-home arrangements have helped individuals find mental and physical balance,” Vergeire said.
She urged companies to continue implementing such a policy as long as it does not hamper their operations.
“If they can work and be productive in the same way at home, we hope they will continue to be allowed to work from home. The DOH is all for that,” Vergeire said.
Former presidential adviser on entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion lobbied earlier to allow more employees to work on-site instead of from home.
