British mum living in the US walks around the house and says she has to ‘go 5 miles’ to get mail

A British mum living in the US pointed out some major differences in homes between the two countries.

Millie Hart, who moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, USA with her American husband and their son, went viral when she shared what her home is like.

“Number one, there’s no mailbox on the door!” she explains. “Forget your mail for the day, you hike five miles and go to that thing over there called a mailbox.

“Number two, no house has a gate – everything is just open.”

Millie then mentions that there are no radiators in the house until she points to a well on the floor saying, “That’s where all the heat and air conditioning comes from, it goes through all the vents in the house.”

Appliances like a fridge-freezer are oversized in the US and every bathroom has a socket next to the sink.

Millie continues, “Most American homes, or the ones I’ve seen, will always have a master bathroom that leads to the master bedroom.

“And a bedroom in America can’t be classed as a bedroom unless it has a built-in wardrobe. In England we only have a wardrobe, it’s rare that you have a dressing room .

“But here, it’s completely normal to have a dressing room in every room.”

She then walks to the window to show the huge gap between her house and the neighbor

“It’s so separate that in England you could literally build two houses between them and all join together, but here you’ll find most of the houses open.”
