Abaribe speaks out against zoning arrangement within Abia PDP as gubers loom

Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator representing Abia South in the National Assembly, on Saturday clarified the outcry over the zoning arrangement within the state branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 elections .

The legislator addressed the 10th Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Umuahia held at St. Andrew’s Church, Nsukwe/Amibo Ubakala North Archdeaconry.

He said: “The best is not necessarily through zoning. Sometimes you can also get it by not going through this means. There’s also no place that says you can’t also get the best through zoning.

“Our laws are made to fit certain situations and I think at the time our party made those decisions when we were coming out of the military, it was necessary at that time for us to assuage some hot feelings. at that time. Today, where we find ourselves, they must necessarily seek out the best for us.

“So it’s just a decision that people will have to make. What I’m advocating today is that we should look at our situation, look at what’s best for us and I think today, what is best for us in Abia State is having the best person who can take us forward to where we are.”

Abaribe, however, reiterated the need to ensure jurisdiction over origin in order to avoid mediocrity across the state.

“All parts and areas of Abia all ruled the state; the North, the Center and the South. Now is the time to zone integrity, capacity, capacity and competence because we can no longer continue to do the same thing we used to do, which is to do geographical things and end up having less than the stellar type of people to rule Abia. I do not think the cycle of mediocrity we had in Abia will continue like this in 2023. It is time for us to make a move towards a new dawn for Abia State.
